When the motor stops, the noose of electric winches are tightened, the brake brakes automatically in the brake drum.
Most of electric winches use the planetary gear to make the reducer gear. Planetary gear has the advantage of small size, and relatively large resulting reduction ratio. Moreover, the more gear contact points, the longer electric winches' life. The electric winches often need to install in the more narrow space, so the smaller and lighter is the better. Planetary gear can achieve this requirement, while also have a greater reduction ratio, and so be good.
We try to succinctly explain the internal working mechanism of the electric winches. First of all, the power of automotive batteries drives the electric motor. Drum of electric winches drives rotation axis, and then drive gear axis to produce a strong deceleration. So the increasing torque is transferred back to drums, drum would drive the noose. Between the motor of electric winches and reducer file there is a clutch, handling through a switch. The brake unit is in the drum, when the noose tightened, the drum is automatically locked.
Planetary gear unit of electric winches
Many electric winches are made of the composition of three planetary gear units, in order to produce the greatest reduction ratio.
